This year marks the 140th anniversary of the greatest moment in our history. On July 1st 1867 the provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Canada (Ontario and Quebec) united to begin to make the great nation of Canada.
The name Canada came from the aboriginal name “Kanata” meaning village. That is truly what Canada is, a village full of many unique aspects.
Each year Canadian citizens across the country gather on Canada Day to celebrate “Canada’s Birthday/Fête du Canada”. Communities hold festivities, concerts, fireworks and much more. See below for a list of some of the local events occurring for Canada Day. Let us gather together to celebrate the multi-coloured quilt that makes our great nation. From sea to sea let us “Celebrate Canada”!
