A local business will enable the Sand Plains region become more accessible thanks to the support of the Government of Canada. Member of Parliament Joe Preston (Elgin-Middlesex-London), on behalf of Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz, announced today an investment of $40,000 to AccessRamp & Mobility Systems Inc.
“Our Government knows how valuable small businesses are in communities, and helping these businesses expand and serve a broader market is something we know is vital to the Canadian economy,” said MP Preston. “AccessRamp will use this investment to install wheelchair ramp systems in the region not only to help our communities become more accessible, but also to create opportunities for local businesses that provide services and supplies for these systems.”
Since 2009, AccessRamp & Mobility Systems Inc. has been refining the design of their wheelchair ramp system to make it easier and more cost effective to manufacture, sell, distribute and install. With this investment, they will create molds and establish an inventory of frame components and other assembly parts used for their ramp systems to prepare them for installation. AccessRamp will also increase their marketing and advertising. Local businesses in the Sand Plains region will be used for supplies and services needed for the wheelchair ramps, benefitting other small business owners.
This investment is being provided through the Sand Plains Community Development Fund administered by the Ontario Association of Community Futures Development Corporations. The fund targets community-based initiatives that support regional development, attract and retain people and investment, and stimulate business development and job creation.
