Joe Preston, MP announces new money for homeless in London
October 16, 2006

London, ON – Joe Preston, Member of Parliament for Elgin–Middlesex–London, on behalf of the Hon. Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, today announced that the Government of Canada is investing just over $38,000 in new money in the London Housing Registry.

“This is the kind of investment that will see tangible results in our community,” said Mr. Preston. “I’m proud of my government’s commitment to programs like these, which lead to real results on the ground.”

This new funding will enable the London Housing Registry to provide enhanced and additional services for a Housing Resource Centre which targets individuals who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the London community. This investment will be directed towards helping the homeless and those at risk obtain affordable permanent housing.

The London Housing Registry’s mission statement is to effectively recruit private sector housing units in order to assist households moving from emergency shelters and unstable housing into permanent housing.
